My question:
As an urban geographer, how do I discuss in layperson’s terms the complexities of “spatial mismatch theory” with journalists as I promote my website, https://cheryl-leemadden.ca ?
The American Association of Geographers (AAG) invited registered members to a virtual session called Media Relations for Geographers on November 1, 2021. This special offering was made available to AAG members in advance of Geography Awareness Week, November 15–19.
I registered as an AAG member for Media Relations for Geographers.

Media Relations for Geographers was an interactive session designed to help geographers talk about their profession and areas of expertise with reporters and journalists.
Building on work AAG began last year to offer guidance and training on public scholarship, the session provided specific tools and opportunities to practice communicating with confidence and effectiveness in the media. The sessions were led by AAG’s partners David Jeffrey Ringer and Elizabeth Sorrell of Green Jay Strategies.
While the session used Geography Awareness Week as a starting point, the skills and information provided through this process will serve geographers all through the year in many different contexts.
